As the Personnel and Development Manager at Tylney Hall, there is nothing I love more than hearing how much our team members enjoy working for the hotel.
I recently caught up with one of newest employees, in-house Painter & Decorator Stephen Ryan, who had some lovely things to say about Tylney.
You joined us back in May, were you familiar with Tylney beforehand? “No, I am originally from London but now live with my family in Basingstoke. I came across the role advertised online and a friend recommended the hotel to me. It sounded like a lovely company to work for.”
You have a lot of experience in the decorating industry. What made you want to work with our maintenance team at Tylney? “I have been working as a decorator 37 years and when I discovered Tylney, I immediately thought it would be an absolute privilege to work within such a historical building. People can get bored in their jobs, but I won’t get bored here – I know that I can visit when I have retired and look at what I have contributed.”
What were your thoughts when you visited us initially? “When you approach Tyney for the first time, you cannot help but go WOW! The building and grounds really are beautiful.”
We have a strong sense of family at Tylney. Did this come across when you began working within our team? “Everyone has been extremely welcoming and has helped make Tylney a lovely environment for me to work in. If I could, I would nominate every member of staff for a GEM (Staff award for ‘going the extra mile’) for making me feel part of the team.”
What do you enjoy most about your role at Tylney? “With the variety my role offers, I know I will never be bored. I am always busy and am more than happy to come in early, just to get a chance to appreciate the lovely surroundings I work in.”
It is great to hear how well Stephen has settled into work life at Tylney Hall and I would like to take this opportunity thank Stephen for allowing us to share his thoughts with you.
