Guests at our June ladies' luncheon learned about the hotel’s history as a school, with retired teacher Malcolm Phillips talking about his time as a teacher.
Malcolm attended our luncheon on Monday 6th June with his wife Judy and was able to take guests back in time as he recounted memories and tales of his past career at Tylney Hall in the 1970s and 80s.
The mansion house at Tylney Hall has served many purposes in the past and has a rich and varied history including its time as a school between 1948 and 1984.
The event was attended by over 70 guests who were treated to a three-course meal while learning about the hotel’s fascinating history in Tylney Hall’s stunning Oak Room Restaurant.
Commenting on the recent luncheon our General Manager Sam Aziz said:"Our ladies’ luncheons at Tylney Hall are always extremely popular due to the breadth and quality of speakers that attend but this one had a particularly personal connection to the hotel. We are very fortunate to have so much history and heritage here at Tylney Hall and both our staff and guests relish the opportunity to learn more from those who have experienced Tylney Hall in its previous incarnations especially this year as we celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the house opening as a hotel.”
We have a full calendar of ladies’ luncheons throughout the year covering a wide range of topics. In September we look forward to welcoming Heather White-Smith, who was once the private secretary to Lady Churchill, and in December we will welcome back the Salvation Army for the annual Christmas Ladies Luncheon complete with festive carols.
