Visit our gardens this spring

This spring we are opening our 66 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, lakes and woodland to the public for two open day events in April and May. Tylney Hall’s estate features a variety of perfectly manicured gardens, from the formal Italian Gardens and Dutch Gardens to the tranquil Water Gardens, originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll.

The National Garden Scheme Open Day on Sunday 24 April and the Garden Appreciation Day on Saturday 7 May will give visitors the opportunity to explore our 66-acre estate, which was announced as an RHS Partner Garden earlier this year. At just £5 per person, the National Garden Scheme Open Day is the perfect opportunity to discover the gardens at your leisure – visitors can drop in at any time between 10am and 4pm and stay for as long as they like.

For those wanting to find out more about Tylney Hall’s extensive gardens the Garden Appreciation Day will also include gardening and photography masterclasses throughout the day, my team and I will also on hand to talk about the history of the grounds and a delicious three-course lunch included in the ticket price of £49.50 per person.

The Garden Appreciation Day at Tylney Hall will also mark the re-opening of the hotel’s Water Gardens, following restoration work to the revetment that took place over the winter. I will be joined by the management team for the official opening ceremony at 2.30pm.

Over the past 30 years my team and I have been working hard to restore the gardens back to their former glory and we are looking forward to showing visitors what we have achieved.

With such a large estate, so many different gardens to look after and over 250,000 trees and shrubs on the grounds, we have our work cut out for us keeping it all in perfect condition and there are always new challenges for us to face. It’s taken nearly 30 years, but we’ve managed to bring the gardens back to their best.

We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the gardens, which is why for the past 26 years we’ve been hosting the National Garden Scheme Open Days. Local people and visitors from further afield can come and spend a relaxing day exploring the estate, see the progress we’re making and enjoy everything Tylney Hall’s gardens have to offer.

Tickets to the National Garden Scheme Open Day are £5 for adults, payable on arrival and children and dogs can visit for free. Tickets for the Garden Appreciation Day are £49.50 per person, including three-course lunch and can be booked by calling Marion Bampton on 01256 745533.
